Born in 1943 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Prakash Jain Barjatia is an electrical engineer who has spent over five decades across lighting technology, quality management, automotive research, and education.
After early education in Ujjain and Indore, he obtained his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Government Polytechnic, Bhopal in 1963. A lifelong learner, he went on to complete approximately 28 training programs, a Diploma in Transport Management (1990), a Master's in Management Science (MMS) from Pune University, and his Ph.D. in 2008 at the age of 65 on "Socio-Economic Impact of Lighting Education in India."
His career spans 10 years at VRDE (Ahmednagar), 25 years at CIRT (Pune) as Scientist-E, and continued involvement with ISLE, NABL, MIT-WPU, and several national bodies. He has contributed more than 80 papers to national and international publications, and authored a chapter on Lighting for Automobiles for the National Lighting Code-2023 (Bureau of Indian Standards).
"प्रकाश ही जीवन है", उक्ति को चरितार्थ करते हुए उज्जैन (म.प्र.) में 1943 में मध्यम परिवार में जन्मे "प्रकाश" ने प्राथमिक शिक्षण उज्जैन एवं इंदौर में पूर्ण करने के पश्चात शासकीय पॉलिटेक्निक, भोपाल से वर्ष 1963 में विद्युतीय अभियांत्रिकी में "पदविका" प्राप्त की।
"ज्ञान-पिपासा" के कारण लगभग 28 विभिन्न प्रशिक्षण लेने के अलावा वर्ष 1990 में "परिवहन प्रबंधन" में पदविका एवं पुणे विद्यापीठ से "प्रबंधन विज्ञान" में स्नातकोत्तर पदवी (MMS) के पश्चात् वर्ष 2008 में 65 वर्ष की उम्र में Ph.D. प्राप्त की।
अवकाश प्राप्ति की उम्र के पश्चात् व्यक्ति पर यदि कोई जिम्मेदारी नहीं है, तो उसे "समाज" के लिए कार्य करना चाहिए - इन्हीं विचारों पर दृढ़-निश्चयी कई सामाजिक एवं धार्मिक संस्थाओं के "संस्थापक" डॉ.बड़जात्या के मार्गदर्शन में पुणे में तीन जिन-मंदिर, एक कन्या छात्रावास एवं कुडची (कर्नाटक) में एक विद्यालय का निर्माण हो चुका है, एवं कई अन्य संस्थाओं में "मानद मार्गदर्शक" के रूप में निरंतर कार्यरत हैं।
